A few minutes ago, I heard three explosions. The television calls it the terror attack in Mumbai.
I had returned from my stroll at marine drive and the evening round of calls with my sister and papa and friends. I was watching Friends 605-The one with Joey's Porsche on my laptop and my roommate was packing things for going to Osho Commune at Pune tomorrow. It seemed like just another night of boredom. Someone knocked at the door. Vishal went to open the door and cried at me “Mayank, Kuch bawaal hua hai!” There was this friend of his who had just returned from Colaba. A shootout had just occurred near Bade Miyan where he was eating. And as we were discussing and dialling random numbers on the cellphone, we heard three explosions within seconds or minutes of each other. The ground shook. This was not just another night.
We switched on the television. And the firing still goes on outside, in batches of 4-5 rounds. As I am writing this, there are sirens of vehicles, police vehicles echoing in my ear. There are 6 people in my living room now, watching the news. Two of them were sitting at Leopold, where there was a shootout earlier. One is a broker, and another one his friend. I am here, my roommate is here. Aunty is in her room, Babloo is cursing everyone to disturb his sleep. And We are together. Only unity can fight this.

To start with… i will say i am no supporter of any political party. But what is MNS doing now. At times of peacefulness they create mess, and now when we require help and support, we dont see a sign of them. They have manpower and stuff, why not help their so called “Aamchi Mumbai”. Understood that they may not have the power to fight against bullets… ok taken… then atleast donate some money to police rather than using it for riots!! Seriously speaking, they must lend a helping hand in such situations. Why hit petty biharis… Rather send ur men to Taj and Oberoi and hit the terrorits out if u are real Sena men!!
Wat say guys!!

I am in USA and just saw the news on the internet...i really think that if the security in USA can be so tight, then why cant it bw in India?? Anyone can enter TAJ or Oberai?? Anyone can move on roads and fire randomly?? what is the reason that id doesnt happen in USA but in India?? Is it only political or is it the inability of the police to handle?? The navy or army has to come....to control the situation...what does that mean???? Are we going to be forever like this...or Indians being so considered as Braines...cannot do anything through technology for its country..??? they hijack police van???? And still they are in town?? How can this happen in this country??? what will happen?? So many lives have died....Can we have a better security?? Can we use the technology?? can we request indians to support the army or navy .....Please for heaven sake do something!!!!!

Bloody Brits,
On one hand, UK PM Brown announces total support to Indian Govt at this hour of terror and this hour, the english team cancels the 6th one-day (that too in Guwahati) and the test match in mumbai.
Maybe their PM and the brits citizen needs to act what it says and their cricket team needs to listen to their PM :(
Not that cricket matters for me (a bombayite) at this hour - shows their utter insensitivity to the timing of their announcements.
After 5-0 white wash & after this announcement, the BCCI should ask the english team to "Quit India".

Am so sorry you had to go through this.. Outraged that people so many people got killed, Depressing that so many are injured, Frightening for so many who were held as hostages and are still hostage. Why are all these things happening? So many killings alone in this year Jaipur, Ahmedabad, bangalore, Mumbai and more.. Why cant a peaceful country like India be left alone?

To nellikools66,
How can you say that this does not happen in the US? Until 9/11, the US was always prone to terrorist attack. It was only after the WTCs went down that the security in the US was really beefed up.
Btw, did you know that this attack on Taj and Oberoi are now referred to by the media as India's 9/11?
To Rvaidya,
Since when was India a peaceful country?
Hopefully these attacks will serve as an eye-opener to politicians and make them fight terrorism together, just as the Americans did.
(If I speak too pro-American, just to let you know, I am an Indian high school student)

I really appreciate what Amit has said here (1st comment). What the hell is the MNS doing now? They are silent cowards who just want cheap publicity and DO nothing that proves their love for Mumbai.
You know what really scares me though - now these hardline f***ers like RSS, MNS etc. are going to comb the streets of Mumbai, taking 'revenge' on muslims.

I would like to express my grief on mumbai blasts and its victims. Its really unfortunate to have such kind of acts of terrors on our country and trying to dissolate our unity.

The PM has chosen to ignore the perils of not learning from mistakes. The indian anti terrorist task force is not good enough to takle these types of militants. I cannot understand why he refused the help of the US and Israeli task forces. It is good to have pride but not at the cost of innocent lives. After 50 hours we still are fighting terrorists still holed up in the Taj hotel.

I understand and empathize with the emotions following here. My question is, havent you seen this happen earlier? This is not the first time Mumbai was attacked in the past 5 years. Then why now all this attention, you be blatant about it when the attacks were on Indian citizens the government did not do enough and even the terrorists gave up, ultimately they ended up targeting the foreigners and jews to get attention - and guess what they were right. These attacks only proved that our government dosen't care for its own. Read my article "Mumbai Mourns" at
http://thepseudoanalyst.blogspot.com - for read my take on the balsts.
Feel free to comment.

Its no more just Mumbai yaa its war against our entire country... BTW I want to ask all those "MES" I mean MNS supporters where are they now huh!!!!!... today when the city is burning they choose to sit in their cozy hide outs...are itna hi pyaar he "amchi mumbai se toh ab aao na aage use your brain and brawn to rehabilitate mumbai...instead some ass was telling the CM when he came to address the injured " sir marathit bola...wtf man..is it even the time..these internal affairs are the only reason we arn't prepared for anything.. we bloody hell are wasting our times sorting curfews created by some "language"maniacs or settling bomb blasts caused by saints..where is the time to build infrastructure???? moreover..we had to loose lives of such precious gems whose value is much more than the 1 crore offered... and now Mr Bacchan and "sir"Aamir are saying "ohhh our heart is melting and got bugrolls in my stomach...damn your blogs guys...talk real..busy accusing one another..ever thought of lending your "hard earned"funds to the benefit of social binding???? I tell you guys these militants have taken perfect advantage of this "you-did-it-no-you-did- it"...else tell me how was it possible for them to enter Taj from Monday itself that too with ammunition...how did they gain access????no checks???? god save my country from "friends"; from the foes I can still protect her :X
