Michael Jackson dies and hits a platinum

Michael Jackson is bad and dangerous
Michael Jackson is a smooth criminal
Michael Jackson beats it
Michael Jackson cares about us
Michael Jackson heals the world
Michael Jackson is history

For a teenager who was growing bit by bit everyday, MJ was an icon of ultimate thrill in life. I started listening to his songs only after his India visit in 1996, at the age of 11. He was all over newspapers, his songs being played on the television. I remember that when he left India, he also left a note on the pillow of the hotel room he was staying in, which came on the frontpage of Indian newspapers.

I graduated from MJ to Pink Floyd, Doors and Led Zepp in my college. But, still in college, I remember watching his music videos again and again; the agony, the spirit and the dancing style amazing me each time. I agree I don’t listen to his songs now. It has been a year since I saw any of his videos or listened to any of his songs.

Each generation has their stars. Some had Beatles, some had Presley, some had Madonna, and we had Michael Jackson. It just amazes me how a star like that can decay so soon. They say he was to have a comeback tour. Now he has just gone back in silence.

And even in his silence, he is scoring platinums of hits in Google and Twitter.
